Story Telling
Reading Camp

Peggy Bookstore was setup since 2001. For the first 3 years, we were busy in building and settling down the business.  Since 2004, we had “story telling” and “reading group” activities in the store for around one year.  Then we took a break for 2 years not holding any activities.  From 2007 summer, we decided to restart the in store activities.  Currently, we have “story telling”, “Rent”,” Reading Camp” in the store now.  Our “Reading Group” will restart in March, 2008.

We focus on the “Story Books” and “Chapters Books” for kids and teenagers.  We classified all the books by different topics to help to readers to find the books easily in the store and on our website. Let me briefly introduce our current activities:

First, ”RENT” is to encourage the habit of mass reading.  Due to the unbalanced resource between the city and country, the costly English story books, our children didn’t really have much chance to read the English story books. By renting books can reduce expense of the parents and encourage the kids to read more. That’s why we got the idea to rent out the books. Secondly, “Story Telling” is to help the kids to know more various books. Thirdly, “Reading Camp” is to make more kids to read and learn English together and tightly.

Currently we are testing the “On-Line Reader”. It is to help the kids whose parents are busy or unable to read with them. It’s not easy to find the audio books for all the English story books.  In order to help the kids to read aloud and reduce the anxiety of learning English, We have this idea to read the books on line.  It’s free for our members and all the readers to use.

We hope we could be more professional in Children and Teenager Literature field in the future. It’s our hope to help the kids in Taiwan to read more English books to enrich their minds and eyesight.

WHOEVER YOU ARE HOLDING ME NOW IN HAND

Whoever you are holding me now in hand,
Without one thing all will be useless,
I give you fair warning before you attempt me further,
I am not what you suppose, but far different.

Who is he that would become my follower?
Who would sign himself a candidate for my affections?

The wa is suspicious, the result uncertain, perhaps destructive,
You should have to give up all else,
I alone would expect to be your sole and exclusive standard,
Your novitiate would even then be long and exhausting,
The whole past theory of your life and all comformity to
the lives around you would have to be abandon'd,
Therefore release me now before troubling yourself
and further, let go your hand from my shoulders,
Put me down and depart on your way.
