Arnold Lobel的作品大多取材於卡通人物，他從小跟爺爺奶奶住在一起，直到後來結婚才跟他太太小孩一起搬到紐約，他們生了二個小孩。Arnold Lobel從小就很喜歡講故事給同學聽，後來當了爸爸之後就講給小孩聽，所以他的作品都是起源於從小的興趣。他寫了數十本膾炙人口的小故事，目前正在陸續蒐集中。Arnold Lobel wrote and illustrated many, many books during his lifetime. His drawings of cats, mice, pigs, and other animals are favorites of children everywhere.
He grew up in Schenectady, New York, where he lived with his grandparents. When he first started drawing pictures for children's books, he got many of his ideas from the cartoons his children liked to watch.
He used to tell stories and illustrate them to entertain his classmates when he was a young boy.
