The Whale in this book were photographed on 12 daytrip to Jeffrey Ledge in the Gulf of Maine during July, August, and September 1991. The whales were photographed entirely from the deck of the Nautilus, whose home port is Kennebunk, Maine. The owners are Diane and Ben Emery, and Wayne Showalter. Capitain Pete Charest and his crew—first mate Ed Sharood, Niels Jacob, Craig Praskavich, Michele Perry, Susan Vold, and Allison Wilcox—made every trip a worthwile and exciting adverture. Each trip was unique , and we always saw whales.
